BALLOON TETHER EVENT

A tethered hot air balloon event provides guests with a short flight experience while the balloon remains securely anchored to the ground. This format allows for higher rider volume in a shorter timeframe and is ideal for festivals, corporate gatherings, and community celebrations.

Site Requirements
To ensure a safe and successful tether event, the following site conditions are required:

• Open Space: Minimum of 200 ft x 200 ft clear, level area free of obstructions (trees, buildings, power lines).

• Surface: Grass or similar surface is preferred, but parking lots are acceptable.

• Accessibility: Safe vehicle access for balloon equipment and crew.

• Permission: Written permission from the property owner or governing authority for balloon operations.

Weather Conditions
Tether events are weather dependent and may be postponed, delayed, or canceled due to:

• Winds exceeding 8 mph

• Thunderstorms or precipitation within 100 miles

• Low visibility or other unsafe weather conditions

The decision to proceed rests solely with the pilot-in-command for safety reasons.

Duration & Scheduling

• Tether events are typically booked for 2–3 hours of operation.

• Setup requires approximately 45–60 minutes before the start time.

• Additional time beyond the contracted duration may be available at an hourly rate.

Passenger Guidelines

• Age minimum: 7 years old (younger at pilot’s discretion)

• Weight limit per passenger: 250 lbs (for safety and fuel efficiency)

• All passengers must be able to stand unassisted for the duration of the flight and follow pilot instructions.

• Riders under 18 must have a parent/guardian present to sign a waiver.

Rider Volume

• Average of 40–60 riders per hour depending on conditions, balloon size, and crowd flow.

• Each tether ride lasts approximately 3–5 minutes.

Payment & Cancellations

• A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the date.

• If weather or safety conditions prevent the event from occurring, deposits may be applied to a rescheduled date within 12 months.

• Full balance due upon completion of the event.

Insurance & Liability

• Cool Breeze Balloons maintains full commercial balloon insurance coverage.

• All passengers must sign a liability waiver prior to boarding.

• The event host agrees to provide adequate crowd control and safety barriers if needed.

Host Responsibilities

• Provide access to the site for setup/teardown.

• Arrange for on-site parking and crowd management.

• Supply any required permits for the event.

*Tethers are charged at an hourly rate and in some cases we can offer a setup fee and a per person rate. Many events opt to sell tickets on their own to help recuperate some of their cost. We have options to help facilitate this process if needed. For more information, please get in touch!
